Moving in the Spirit is an award-winning creative youth development program. We use the discipline of dance to help children and teens develop the skills they need to thrive.
On May 8, 2025, we’re presenting our year-end performance, PLAY: Dancing the Seven Senses, at the prestigious Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University.
Our young dancers work tremendously hard throughout the year to create this production, and they need your help behind the scenes to make the show a success!
We are seeking volunteers to fulfill the following roles:
Greeters: Welcome and direct guests, providing basic information such as restroom location. May also assist with crowd control and activities in the lobby.
Ticketing: Assist with distributing complimentary tickets to VIP guests.
Ushers: Pass out programs, assist guests with seating, provide direction to guests regarding late seating.
Backstage Classroom Support: Assist Teaching Artists with monitoring and coordinating students backstage. Simple set up and breakdown of the craft table. May assist dancers with costuming, makeup, and hair.
Note: Volunteers interested in assisting with backstage classroom support must commit to attending our tech rehearsal on May 7th and the performance on May 8th. Attending the dress rehearsal on May 6th at Moving in the Spirit is optional but helpful!
All volunteers are required to wear all/mostly black attire and complete a free background check via our partner, Sterling Volunteers. Background checks are due April 25th, 2025.
Dates Needed:
May 6th at 5PM-8PM (Optional, located at Moving in the Spirit)
May 7th 5PM-8PM (required for backstage volunteers)
May 8th 5PM-9PM (required for ALL volunteers)
If you have any questions, please reach out to our volunteer coordinator, Azaria G., via email at volunteers@movinginthespirit.org. Thank you for helping us at Moving in the Spirit. We look forward to working with you to make our year-end show magical!
